Holiday Time

Good afternoon, Family... What are you doing for the Memorial Day Holiday?  My Family celebrates with a Church service on Sunday afternoon and then some of us get together on Monday for a little grillin' and chillin'.  The only problem with the holiday falling on a Monday is that our family that lives out of town, have to get back on the road toward home early in the day, so they can have some down time.
Stay on track towards a healthier you for the holiday.  I know, food will be in abundance for the next few days, so just watch what and how much you eat and drink...Fill up on the veggies and salads first, then go for other side dishes.  Don't deprive yourself.  Get some exercise in by walking the children in your family to the park or playing in some type of organized sport like softball...You get it???  Keep it moving so that the dessert I KNOW you are going to have will not derail all your progress...
For all of my fair skinned Family and Friends, protect that skin.  Wear your hat, put on the sunscreen and reapply the sunscreen if you perspire or swim.  Please don't forget to get and use some lip balm with SPF.  Lips are sensitive to the sun's rays too...

Food for thought...Here is a quick salad recipe for you,
 ARUGULA AND PEAR SALAD:
  • 2 cups Arugula
  • 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon white-wine vinegar
  • salt/pepper to taste
  • 3 bosc pears washed
  • shaved parmesean or piave cheese
Slice the pears thinly and place in the bowl with the arugula.  Place oil, lemon juice, vinegar and salt/pepper in a bowl and whisk until mixed.  Drizzle the mix over the pears/arugula, toss, then add cheese...ENJOY...

It's almost the end of the month.  How have you been doing with the THE CHALLENGE OF THE ARMS???  I must admit, I missed a few days, but I am pleased.  I am going to keep it going and add something else for June...Any suggestions???  SMOOCHES...
