The EYEZ Have It..??..!!

Good evening, FAMILY...  I only have two eyes.  One eye pretty much has perfect vision, the other needs some help, but let me tell you, elective surgery is not for me.   Lasik surgery has been the big thing for quite a few years now.  Physicians who perform LASIK surgery correct your vision if you are nearsighted, farsighted or have an astigmatism by reshaping your cornea.  Insurance will not pay for it, but people are getting it done.  Everyone that I know who has had the surgery, is glad that they did it. and have had no complications that I am aware of.

So that whole conversation brings me to my topic for the day.  CHANGING the color of your eyes with surgery.  Not color contacts, but surgery!  That is just what Tameka "Tiny" Harris, the reality star/former member of the singing group Xscape and the wife of rapper/entertainer/actor T.I., did recently.  I saw her results on Good Morning America.  The EYEZ have it!  They look pretty.  Her fair complexion can handle that color.  It seems she had ice-gray colored contacts surgically implanted.   The article states that she had her operation done using a BrightOcular technique.  "BrightOcular is a United States developed artificial iris implant made of a thin, flexible, biocompatible, colored medical grade silicone which has been developed to alter iris appearance for medical and cosmetic purposes".   That means they put a piece of plastic in your eyeball!!!  My concern is what is going to happen in the future.  This isn't a common surgery.  Do they even know of the possible after affects?  An article at www.medicaldaily.com states that this procedure has robbed people of their sight.  A physician at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai, cited the potential risks as glaucoma, cataract and corneal problems.

According to Yahoo, Tameka "Tiny" travelled to Africa for her procedure.  She stated that initally, her vision was "very blurry", but listening and watching her on Good Morning America with the ABC news report with Deborah Roberts she seems pleased with her final results.  I just get the chills when I think about someone cutting a slit in my eye and placing a contact lens in my eyeball.  Maybe it's just me???
