Good morning, Family... I know, you haven't heard from me. I've been doing some soul searching and healing and other stuff, but I haven't gone anywhere. Today, I'm focusing on this election. I'm sure you are wondering what that has to do with health and wellness. Well, stress is a killer and this election process and the folks running for president should be enough to stress anyone out. Also, remember one of the biggest accomplishments that President Obama did during his term as President was the passing of the Affordable Care Act or as most know it, OBAMACARE . Many people to this day oppose the passing of the law, but most that oppose have the means to afford the care of their medical issues. As per Wikipedia, The Affordable Care Act was intended to increase
health insurance quality and affordability, lower the
uninsured rate by expanding insurance coverage and reduce the costs of healthcare. It introduced mechanisms including mandates,
subsidies and
insurance exchanges.
[1][2] The law requires insurers to
accept all applicants, cover a specific list of conditions and
charge the same rates regardless of
pre-existing conditions or sex.
[3 In 2011, the
Congressional Budget Office projected that the ACA would lower future deficits
[4] and Medicare spending.

All that being said, today is
NATIONAL VOTER REGISTRATION DAY!!! Yes, it is almost that time. Yes, it's time for us to decide who will be the President of the United States of America. This person we place in the Presidential position will have the opportunity to be involved in major decisions for laws and legal issues for ALL of the citizens of this United States and will have vital input for the foreign policies with other countries for at least the next 4 years. I'm going to keep this unbiased, so I will not make any suggestions on who you should vote for. My issue is
I WANT YOU to exercise your right to vote and the election is
42 DAYS away.
Don't be stressed, but you only have until
October 11th to register to vote for this election. If you are not registered, why not? If you have recently moved, you should check with your local
DEPARTMENT OF ELECTIONS to determine where your voting poll location is. If you haven't voted in any primary elections recently you should also check with the Department of Elections to see if you are registered. Don't assume anything. You cannot register at the polls. Below are a list of a few sites to check to see your status and to REGISTER to vote:
Just a thought for all who don't know or realize how important voting is. The
VOTING RIGHTS ACT of 1965 was passed by the government to prohibit racial discrimination after many years of blood, sweat, tears, protesting, and deaths of afro-americans. That passing of that law allowed anyone of color to vote. The law was only good for a little while, though. The law had to be amended in 1970 to allow for an extension of another 5 years, in 1975 for another 7 years, 1982 another 25 years, and finally in 2006 an extension for another 25 years. Just the thought that at any given time this right can be taken away should be
ENOUGH for all of you non-registered, eligible people to get up and do something about your
VOTING STATUS.
There is a song by Kindred the Family Soul called "All My People". I personally love the song. It is what I would love our USA to represent. The lyrics grabbed me the first time I heard it:
I want all my people around me
Everybody living good
Everybody eatin' good
Everybody chillin'
I want all my people around me
Everybody eatin' good
Everybody living good
One for my brother and one for my sister
This will not happen without your
VOTE. Register today!!!
SMOOCHES
