Good evening, Fam... TODAY is National NAPPING day. I was doing some research on naps and found out that there are several different definitions (you can research that one one your own), but for today's purpose, we are going to use Wikipedia. Did you get your nap today? Napping Day is supposed to provide an opportunity to adjust after the changes made to daylight savings time when you lose an hour of sleep. Wikipedia defines a nap as "a short period of sleep, typically during daylight hours as an adjunct to the usual nocturnal sleep period". That just means sleeping during a time other than your normal night time sleep. How many of you ever have the time or take the time to nap? I know some people who do about 10 minutes every day after lunch.. (I will forever keep the names to myself.)
Losing an hour for daylight savings time has nothing to do with whether or not I need a nap. Sometimes, I just need a nap. There are many people who say they just can't nap for 15-20 minutes because they are afraid they won't wake up or they say that it does them no good. Well, I am not one of those people. Fifteen good minutes rejuvenates me for at least 4 hours. My body tells me when it needs me to shut down. I can't think clearly when I'm tired. Sometimes, I'm not so pleasant when I'm drowsy. In my research I found that a short nap can improve alertness and performance. There is something to be said about those countries that allow their workers a short "siesta" during the work day.
Do yourself a favor. If you are tired, drowsy, can't think and still have another 6 or 7 waking hours to go, find yourself a quiet place, set your cellphone alarm, and get that quick 15-20 minute nap done!!!
SMOOCHES!!!
