Hey Fam... Yes, it's me. I received this letter from a young lady who recently had several heart attacks and I thought her story was interesting. There are many things that Medicare will not pay for and cardiac rehabilitation by anyone OTHER THAN A PHYSICIAN is one of them. Take a minute to read. It might affect someone you know.

Hi Lynne,
I was lucky. A week and a half after suffering five heart attacks and undergoing single bypass open-heart surgery, I entered into a cardiac rehabilitation program that helped me get back on my feet. While my heart rhythm and blood pressure were monitored, I began a light exercise regime and, slowly but surely, made my way through recovery. Thanks to rehab, I was able to avoid getting a defibrillator.
But others aren’t so lucky. Right now, Medicare beneficiaries can’t enter into a cardiac rehab program unless it’s supervised by a physician. In many cases, nurses or physician assistants are every bit as qualified to fill this role. That’s why I’m joining with 15 other volunteers from across the country and visiting Capitol Hill today to share my story. If we can change this particular Medicare provision, then hospitals across the country will be better able to launch and maintain rehab programs, making this critical service available to more Americans than ever before.
Will you help me by sending a message to lawmakers explaining why this is so important?
My life wouldn’t be the same without cardiac rehabilitation, and for so many others, it’s impossible to overstate the value of entering a rehab program. It’s been shown to reduce hospital readmissions, decrease health care costs, and improve patients’ quality of life. That’s why we need to break down the barriers that keep too many from using these programs. Please contact your representatives and tell them to make cardiac rehab available to all who need it.
Thank you for your time,
Kathryn Moore
