Help Where and How YOU Can...

Good Morning, Family... Just want you to know that I have been missing in action due to some medical issues. I had some surgery and needed some downtime. I will address that issue at another time. Right now, I want to talk about something that is more important than me.   Helping others...

I am sure that most of you know someone who was affected by the most recent disasterous storm named, SANDY. I was blessed in the fact that I only had to deal with high winds, rain, and an employer that wanted me to be at my post on time.    But I have family members who had trees fall on their property, have had and are still having issues trying to get gasoline for the cars, are unable to physically go to work because they use the New York transit system, and who's places of employment are under water and have no electrical power.   I have friends who have family members who's vacation homes have been knocked off their foundations and have evidence that the homes had at least 5 feet of water inside and have boats missing.   Then there are people I have seen on television who's homes have been reduced to piles of wood, people who are sleeping on stacks of what looks to me to be junk (because they have nowhere to go), who did not need to evacuate prior to the storm, but need to now and can't because EVERYTHING has been destroyed—their homes, cars, clothes, food, etc… HOW YOU CAN YOU HELP?

The 6ABC network and the REDCROSS have joined forces and dubbed today as, "Day of Giving". This is an opportunity for people to give monetary donations that will be used by the REDCROSS--who is already out and helping--for the needs of the people that have been affected by SANDY.   When donating, keep in mind that these people, for the most part have nothing. Just imagine going to sleep one night with what you need and waking up the next day to NOTHING!!!   You can't make a telephone call, you can't drive anywhere, you can't watch TV, you can't walk around freely due to the electrical lines, you can't cook, you can't eat, you can't shower, you can't comb your hair, etc......   So, if you would like to DONATE (any amount of money), go to the website, www.redcross.org/abc or you can dial 1-800-help-now.   You can also donate to the REDCROSS by TEXTing to 90999 the word REDCROSS. This text will allow you to give permission for $10 to be billed to you and donated to the REDCROSS.   Help Where and How YOU can...  SMOOCHES...
