Good morning, Family... Yes, I have been missing in action. I have had one crazy month trying to stick to my healthy food plan (ha, I didn't say diet), trying to keep up with my exercise (inspite of my aching joints), and working with a crazy schedule. It has been rough, but I have pushed through it. I am still in the biggest loser competition, but missed my weekly weigh-in thanks to a little thing called employment... Hey, I have to do what I have to do! I am pretty sure I made the 10 pound mark for the Month of January, but I will know "officially" on the next weigh-in. I just pray I don't let Super Bowl Sunday sack me!!! (Giggles)
Are you wearing RED today? Today is National Wear Red Day. Today is the start of National Heart Health Month. Heart disease kills one in three women each year – that’s approximately one woman every minute! Many times we associate heart attacks with MEN, but this disease affects us all. That is why it is important to stay on top of your medical appointments, annual physical check ups, get some exercise in our lives, and eliminate the factors that we control that may put us at risk.
Smoking, lack of exercise, diabetes, high cholesterol, being overweight are ALL factors that put us at risk of heart disease. Although some of us may be affected by some of these factors due to heredity, for the most part we can make healthy changes in our lifestyles that will keep us away from being a statistic. Remember this. Heart disease is the #1 killer of women... Go RED!!! For more detailed information check out http://www.goredforwomen.org/.
Now, I know the weather has not been the most pleasant. It has been cold, windy, snowing, rainy, foggy, but DO NOT let that keep you home snuggled on the couch. If you cannot get up and out to exercise, or maybe you just don't feel like going out into the cold, GET UP and get moving in the house. Don't have any weights, use canned goods. If you are just getting started in the exercise mode, DO NOT get discouraged because you can't last 30 minutes. Start low and slow. First week do 15 minutes 3-4 times per week. Next week do 20 minutes 3-4 times per week. Keep that process going until you reach 60 minutes 4-5 times per week... Remember the only limitation is yourself...
See you at the Superbowl... SMOOCHES...
